Kpop stands for Korean pop music. It is most commonly known as K-pop which is mainstream music that originated in South Korea. K-pop music in the country could be considered similar to Taylor Swift in the United States. 


1. BLACKPINK


Blackpink is a South Korean girl group formed by YG Entertainment, consisting of members Jisoo, Jennie, Lisa, and Rose. The group debuted on August 8, 2016, with their single Square One, which spawned "Whistle," their first number-one song in South Korea.They are the highest-charting female K-pop act on both Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200.

2. ITZY


Itzy is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment and consisting of members Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna. They debuted on February 12, 2019, with the release of their single album It'z Different. Each member brings their unique personality and talents to the group, creating a dynamic and charismatic ensemble. Itzy showcases their diverse skillset through their performances, ranging from powerful rap verses to mesmerizing vocals.

3. TWICE



Twice is a South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment. The group is composed of nine
members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Twice was formed under the television program Sixteen (2015) and debuted on October 20, 2015, with the extended play (EP) The Story Begins. Since their debut in 2015, Twice has become one of the best-selling K-pop girl groups of all time. They are best known for their cuter and more girly concepts, and eye-catching choreographies.

4. Red Velvet


Red Velvet is a South Korean girl group formed and managed by SM Entertainment. They originally debuted on August 1, 2014, with the single "Happiness" with the four-member line-up of Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy. A fifth member, Yeri, joined in March 2015, following the release of their first extended play, Ice Cream Cake. 
The group's name represents its concept, defined by two different images, "Red" and "Velvet". "Red" signifies their vivid and bold image, whereas "Velvet" reflects their classy and toned-down side.

5. (G)I-DLE


(G)I-DLE is a South Korean multi-national girl group under Cube Entertainment. The group consists of five members: Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua. (G)I-DLE debuted on May 2nd, 2018 with their debut mini-album "I am", with the title track "LATATA". Their releases have broken into the Top 10 of South Korea's Circle Weekly Album chart, as well as several placing in the Billboard World Albums chart and Billboard 200.

6. Aespa


æspa is a South Korean girl group formed by SM Entertainment. The group consists of four members: Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning. The group is known for popularizing the metaverse concept and hyperpop music in K-pop. 
aespa's lore is based on the concept that we exist in two worlds: the Real World and the Virtual World.

7. NewJeans


 NewJeans is a South Korean girl group formed by ADOR. The group is composed of five members: Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. NewJeans is known for their girl next door image and 1990s- and 2000s-indebted pop and R&B songs with influences of various dance and club styles. The name NewJeans is a play on both words and fashion. Jeans being a timeless wardrobe staple, accounting for the group's naturalness and classic charm, and the name sounding like “new genes,” referring to a new generation of K-Pop.

8. IVE


Ive is a South Korean girl group formed by Starship Entertainment. The group is composed of six members Gaeul, Yujin, Rei, Wonyoung, Liz, and Leeseo. Ive is acknowledged for their catchy songs and exploration of themes of self-love in their music.
